SOL CINEMA FEST
The Sol Cinema Fest is a 5-day film and new media festival developed to celebrate Harlem’s diverse cultures through a cinematic experience and provide New York City residents an opportunity to learn from industry professionals. Held February 19 to 23 at the Apollo Theater and the new Sol Cinema Café the program is as follows:
Day 1 - Wednesday, Feb. 19 opening night party and feature film presentation;
Day 2 – Thursday, February 20, a day of free virtual reality programs, a panel on VR, and a feature film presentation at the Apollo Theater;
Day 3 – Friday, Feb. 21, a day of independent Afro-Latino films and a panel discussion on Afro-Latino cinema;
Day 4 – Saturday, Feb. 22, Animation Nation, a program of children’s animated films, a panel on African Cinema, short films and an African feature film;
Day 5 – Sunday, Feb. 23, an afternoon of environmental films and issue-driven films followed by a panel discussion on the social impact of cinema, and a closing night film.
All of the festival events located at the Sol Cinema Café will be free of charge. This unique program will position Harlem as a leader in cinema entertainment and participants from throughout the City and beyond to spend time and money in the Harlem community.
